It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Annett Joan Liles, who departed this life on May 17, 2025, in Kingwood, Texas, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was surrounded by her loving family in her final moments.

Annett was born on December 19, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio, to John and Mary Hurban. She spent her early years in Cleveland before her family relocated to Denton, Texas, during her high school years. A proud graduate of Denton High School, Annett was determined to be the first in her family to attend college. She achieved that goal at the University of North Texas, where she also met the love of her life, Bill Liles. She earned a degree in Education and later went on to complete her master's degree.

Annett and Bill built a beautiful life together in Spring, Texas, where they raised their children, Connie Hamel and Bobby Liles. They also experienced the heartbreaking loss of their son, Bryan Liles, before Connie and Bobby were born.

A devout Catholic, Annett lived a life rooted in love, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her most treasured role was that of Grandma and Great Grandma, where her joy and warmth radiated most brightly. She was the heart of the family, the one who held everyone together.

Annett was a lifelong educator, admired by her students and cherished by her colleagues. She will be fondly remembered for the legendary summer gatherings at the lake house with her fellow teachers—joyful times filled with laughter, storytelling, and enduring friendships with the beloved "Mendel gang." Her happiness came from bringing joy to others, a gift she embraced wholeheartedly.

Her legacy is one of kindness, joy, and a life lived with purpose. She leaves behind a trail of beautiful memories and hearts forever touched by her presence.

Annett was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Hurban; her son, Bryan Liles; her sisters, Carol Pedersen and Bonnie Baker; and her brother, Mike Hurban.

She is survived by her loving husband, Bill Liles; her children, Bobby Liles and Connie Hamel (husband Rick); her grandchildren, Kaitlyn Liles, Morgan Bontrager (husband

Brett), Mark Hahn (wife Sissy), and Blain Hamel; and her great-grandchildren, Kensley, Noah, Bennett, and Beckham Bontrager. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Lincoln and Gayle Hurban, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Annett's light will continue to shine in the lives of those who knew and loved her.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the amazing caregivers at Cardinal Care Cottage and the people of Bayou City Hospice for their care and support.

A funeral mass will be held on June 6th at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church at 10:30am 2131 Lauder Rd., Houston, Tx. followed by her burial at Veterans Memorial Cemetery 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr. at 1:00PM
