Obituary

Capt. Arthur A. Speegle arrived November 21, 1935 in Nashville, Tennessee. He was the first child of Arthur A. Speegle and Nancy Belle Campbell Speegle. Arthur departed and flew West to take his last check ride with his God in Kingwood, Texas on April 2, 2023.

Arthur was raised in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Highland Park High School. While in high school he learned to fly. He then attended University of Miami where he was Vice President of Kappa Alpha Order, fraternity, pledge class. He then served in the U.S. Air Force and Reserves. He then was employed by Trans Texas Airways, Texas International Airlines and Continental Airlines as a pilot. He retired as a Captain after 25 years of service. During his flying career he served his company, his profession, and his pilot group by his many activities and positions in the Air Line Pilots Association.

He is survived by his loving wife, Judith Lynn McGibbney Speegle in a marriage that spanned 35 years. Arthur had three natural children: P. Rachelle Speegle Benton married to the Late Daniel Craig Benton of Mississippi, Leslie A. Speegle Carpenter married to Greg Wayne Carpenter of Mississippi, Arthur A. Speegle married to Leigh Ann Mitchell Speegle of Mississippi and three stepchildren; Daniel J. Zillweger married to Elise Ann Zillweger of Georgia, Scott B. Zillweger, Chris Ann Zillweger Rosser of Kingwood, Texas. He was also blessed with 18 grandchildren: Andrea Cheri Benton Adcock married to Justin Ryan Adcock, Daniel Craig Benton Jr. married to Tiffany Ann Hunt Benton, Megan Elisabeth Benton Averitt married to Justin Geoffrey Averitt, Arthur A. Speegle Jr., Amber Leigh Speegle, Kristin Nicole Carpenter Schwartz of Mississippi married to Grant R. Schwartz of Iowa, and Johnathan Riley Carpenter of Mississippi, Adam J. Zillweger married to Allie Dallas Garner Zillweger of Aledo, Texas, Emily C. Zillweger, Zachary Zillweger, Maxwell C. Zillweger, and H. Pierce Zillweger, Chesney Zillweger of Georgia, Jessica E. Zillweger, Austin S. Zillweger, Russell J. Rosser, Joseph L. Rosser, and Christopher A. Rosser of Kingwood. In addition, he was blessed with 6 great grandchildren: Neely Ann Benton, Baby Boy Benton (on the way), Annelise Adalyn Averitt, Gabriel Willian Averitt of Mississippi, Austin Reese Zillweger, and Garner Jay Zillweger of Aledo, Texas. Service Information A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Darst Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tommy Lowe officiating.
