It is with great sadness that the family of Barry Len Mason must announce that, after a brief but brave battle with a rare cancer, Barry departed this earth to be with our Heavenly Father on August 7, 2022. Although he was only 63 years of age at the time of his passing, Barry lived a full life and will be dearly missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.

Barry was born on October 5, 1958, in Montgomery, AL to parents Roy and Betty Mason. Just like his father before him, Barry always had an entrepreneurial spirit and dreamed of one day starting his own business. Barry graduated from the University of Alabama in 1980 (Roll Tide), worked while completing his MBA, and spent 22 years in the oil and gas industry. Due to his relentless work ethic, Barry achieved his goal in 2002 and cofounded Capital Oil Brokers, where he worked until his retirement in 2018.

Of course, Barry did not reach his goals alone. He found his soul mate and partner for life at the age of 27, when he married his loving wife Elisabeth Ann (Brown) Mason on November 23, 1985. Together they raised two sons, Drew (29) and Alex (26). Barry made it his priority to be an example of a man who was obedient to God and a loving and supportive provider for his family. Never missing the opportunity for a lesson, Barry dutifully instilled the value of hard work and independence in his sons. While the lessons may not have been immediately apparent to his sons (and may have been met with a snarky attitude), Drew and Alex have begun to realize the truth in their father's wisdom more and more as they progress through life.

Barry was a private and humble man who had a unique sense of humor and endearing loyalty to his family, friends, and (perhaps most of all) Alabama football. Elisabeth, Drew, and Alex recall that some of the family's best memories are fall Saturday afternoons cheering on the Tide together and finishing off a win with Barry's special grilled ribs. In addition to all things Crimson Tide, Barry also enjoyed going to the beach, skiing, and spending time with his family. Ultimately, Barry's life revolved around his family and faith. He strove to be a Godly husband, and encouraged his children to get an education, take responsibility for their actions, and make good decisions. As a result of his lifelong dedication to his family, Barry's sons were given values and expectations to strive for and a guide to be successful as an individual, as a husband, as a parent, and in business.

Barry is survived by his wife Elisabeth and sons Drew (Sara) and Alex Mason. He is also survived by his mother Betty Mason, brother Mike Mason (Christie), sister Lorie Mason, mother-in-law Betty Brown, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family that he loved dearly. Barry was predeceased by his father Roy Mason, father-in-law W.J. Brown, grandparents Bessy & Lonzie Thompson and Mary Ethel & William Watts, and uncle Larry "Bubba" Thompson.
