Obituary

Benny Willeford passed away on May 27th, 2023. He was born on October 27th, 1940 to Bessie Ruth Chisum and Benjamin Lemond Willeford in San Antonio, TX. He was one of several brothers, Robert, John, Thomas, and Ray. He spent most of his youth in Sonora, TX. There, he also attended Sonora High School, and was an avid member of the science club.

He went straight into the Navy following his graduation and took two tours in Vietnam. After 24 dedicated years, Benny decided to take his honorable leave as a Chief Petty Officer and pursued a degree in electrical engineering. He then became an electrical engineer up until his retirement.

Benny married his first wife Joe Etta Adams on February 23rd, 1962. The two traveled during his time in the Navy, and lived in several places. Notably; Spain, Jacksonville, FL, and Meridian, MI. Together, the two raised three wonderful sons, Jason, BJ, and Daniel. He also had several grandchildren through them; Cheyanne Tronan, Katelyn Willeford, Haliegh McGrady, and Alexa Hrist.

Recently, Benny found love again with Linda Rubin, and the two married in October 22nd, 2021. With his second family, he had step-daughters in Stephanie Dowden, Brandi Brown, and step-son Ray Brown, along with numerous grandchildren.

He was well-loved by his family and close friends, John and Lois Wisser, and will be dearly missed.

Benny will have a visitation at Darst Funeral Home on June 12th, 2023 from 5 PM to 7 PM inside the chapel. The following day, June 13th, a Memorial Service will take place at Darst Funeral Home again at 10:30 AM with Pastor Milton Pool and Scott Tomataz officiating. After the service, a burial will take place at Houston National Cemetery at 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
