Beulah May Johnson (Missy) passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on July 22, 2022, at the age of 92. Missy was born into the Great Depression on June 4, 1930, and lived on a farm near Aberdeen, Mississippi. Her parents, Ed and Ada Jones, had 13 children of which Missy was born number 10 of 13 and was the final surviving sibling.

After WWII, Missy graduated early from high school at the age of 16 and took the train from Aberdeen to visit her older sister in Houston, Texas. She never went back to Mississippi to live with her extended family, and thus made Houston her home from 1946 to 2022 - a 76-year resident Houstonian. In 1947, she met her husband of 57 years, Berner Dean Johnson (Benny). They were married in 1951 while Benny served in the Army during the Korean War. Benny and Missy had two children - Greg Johnson, who lives in San Antonio with his wife Teresa, and Kim Grigsby who lives in Charlotte, NC with her husband Phillip. Missy is survived by four grandchildren - Aaron Johnson (wife Maureen), Ashley Scoggins (husband Zachary), Lacey Straube (husband Tobias) and Jessica Roberts (husband Chuck). She is survived by nine great grandchildren - Olivia, Ryan, Brooke (Aaron's children), Scarlett (Ashley's daughter), Samuel and Tucker (Lacey's boys) and Cole, Luke and Ryan (Jessica's boys).

From the early 1960s to the late 1980s, Missy was very active in several Houston clubs and charities, such as ARCs and Delphians. Benny and Missy were active in the Houston social scene, but traveled frequently to Amory, Mississippi for big reunions and gatherings of her extensive family there.

After Benny passed in 2008, Missy never remarried. She was a beautiful and elegant woman and extremely mobile and fit up to about the age of 90, when her illness started to slow her down. For many decades, Missy walked several miles a day on her treadmill and performed yoga daily to stay strong and actively mobile and did this until about the age of 90. She lived in her Houston condo for her final 47 years, was mobile to the end and passed peacefully in her sleep with the entire family gathered in her Houston home.

Beulah May Johnson was highly intelligent and full of life. Friends always said she was one of the smartest women they had ever met. Everyone loved Missy and she will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
