In Loving Memory of William (Bill) Joseph Callahan Jr. who was born November 28, 1930 in Bayside, New York to William and Francis Callahan. Bill went to be with our Lord on August 30, 2021. Bill is the third of four siblings and is survived by his sister, Betty Powell and brother, Donald Callahan (Betty). He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Theresa Callahan and sister, Katherine Tranfo. He is survived by seven children; Bill Callahan (Deborah) and grandson William; Marybeth Sinclair (Rich), grandsons Richard and Nicholas (Desiree) and great-granddaughter Estelle; Maureen Callahan, grandson Michael (Lacy), great-grandchildren Evan and Lyla and great-great granddaughter Chloe; Cathleen Murray (Michael), grandson Kevin (Tori) and great-granddaughter Zoe; grandson Patrick (Erin) and great-granddaughter Maeve; granddaughter Megan; Francine Callahan; Michael Callahan (Denise) and grandchildren, Cailey, Erin and Michael; and Peter Callahan (Ingrid) and many additional relatives.

At 17, Bill began work in the mailroom at Exxon in New York, New York. Bill continued working there while completing his degree in Accounting from St. John's University in 1956. As Bill's career continued with promotions it meant new locations for his family. So, what began in New York took him to Houston, Texas; New Orleans, Louisiana; Midland, Texas; Charlotte, North Carolina and finally to Humble, Texas. After 37 years with Exxon, at age 55, Bill was able to enjoy his golden years of retirement. Bill participated in the Knights of Columbus for many years and was a Fourth Degree Knight and was given Honorary Life Membership. After retirement, Bill enjoyed being the Treasurer for St. Mary's Catholic Church in Humble until he was 81 years old. Bill and Mary enjoyed traveling to many places abroad with the Exxon Annuitants Club and St. Mary's Catholic Church with one trip allowing them to meet Pope John Paul II.

Bill enjoyed telling stories, holding court with his quick-witted Irish humor making us all laugh. His passions included gardening, bird watching, following his favorite sports teams and playing a round of golf with his many friends. He enjoyed family time and was involved in his children's life activities, church and sporting events. His greatest passion was fatherhood to his seven children and spouse to Mary for 65 years. His life was enriched by twenty-seven years of sobriety. God is good!

Bill's family would like to thank the numerous care givers at Rosemont Assisted Living and Plantation Estates for their many kindnesses over the past few years. For those desiring, the family suggests memorial contributions to be made to either: The Alzheimer's Association; Alz.org/thelongestday or to The Gabriel Project at St. Martha's Church Service Information Visitation and recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Darst Funeral Home, Kingwood, Texas; Tuesday, September 7, 2021. St. Martha's Church will celebrate the Funeral Mass at 11:30 am; Wednesday, September 8, 2021. Interment will be at 10:00 am at Rosewood Cemetery, Porter, Texas; Thursday, September 9, 2021.
