Calvin Ray Newton, also known as Pookie, peacefully passed away on January 12, 2024, at the age of 58 in Kingwood, Texas. Born on May 16, 1965, in Louisiana, Calvin was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Calvin was a man of few words but had a heart full of kindness and compassion. He had a way of making everyone he met feel like a friend. Whether you called him Calvin, Mr. Newton, Pookie, Grandpa, Big Man, and last but not least, Dad, he always saw the good in people. His actions spoke louder than words, and his noble character touched the lives of many. Calvin was a Godly man who will forever be remembered and cherished in our hearts.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Jasmine, Brianna, and Amanda, and his son, Braxton. Calvin is also survived by his mother, Meardis, and his brother, Rodney Sr.

Calvin found solace in his faith and was an active member of Portico Church and Faith Family Church. His spiritual journey played a significant role in his life, and his devotion to God was inspiring to all who knew him.

A procession will begin at Darst Funeral Home, located at 796 Russell Palmer Rd, Kingwood, TX 77339, on February 2, 2024 at 9:15 am.

Following the procession, a memorial service will be held at Faith Family Church, situated at 23915 US-59, Kingwood, TX 77339, from 10 am to 11 am.

After the service, a reception will take place at Megaton Brewery, located at 808 Russell Palmer Rd, Kingwood, TX 77339.

The reception will be held from 11 am to 3:30 pm and will include food, drinks, music, and a heartfelt slideshow filled with cherished memories.
