Obituary

Carl Becker passed away peacefully on October 9, 2024. He was 89 years young and lived life to its fullest. He had battled with Parkinson's disease since 2012.

Carl was born in Kilgore, Texas, the youngest of eight siblings of the late Marguerite Eustace Becker and Julius Jacob Becker.

He was born on February 9, 1935. A time that was challenging during the Depression.

The Becker family moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where Carl grew up with his seven other siblings.

Marguerite was the family foundation and always made sure her children understood hard work, cleanliness, and humor. This is how they all survived during those troubling times.

Carl had many friends growing up and with his imagination they were always up to something.

He was always the General of the gang and would appoint each kid their own military rating.

One of his best friends, Vernon Wheeler was Whataburger's first employee on Ayers Street in Corpus. Needless to say, Carl and his friends would occasionally get a free hamburger.

During his high school years, he would work for a juke box owner and help select songs for the different venues in Corpus. This started his love for music, which contributed to his success as a record producer, publisher, and manager of well-known bands.

After graduating high school, he was offered a job with Trans Texas Airways now United Airlines. There he excelled as an employee and learned the entire airline business. These were back in the times when they used visual weather socks and balloons to report weather conditions.

In the early 1970's he transferred to Houston. He was married at the time and had two wonderful children from a previous marriage (Marty and Marcie). Trans Texas Airways became Texas International and then Continental Airlines where he retired in 1993.

Carl had a very fulfilling life. Once retired he pursued establishing an Import/Export business and continued to produce and publish music.

He is preceded in death by his beloved mother Marguerite Eustace Becker, father Julius Becker, sister Helen Becker Easley (Billy), sister Lorene Becker Stubbs (Bill), brother Billy Joe Becker, brother Julius Glenn Becker, sister Bernice Neal Becker, sister Jo Becker Harsdorff (Fritz) and sister Eva Becker Sanders (Ray). Carl is survived by wife Nancy Becker, son Marty Becker, daughter Marcie Becker, sister-in-law Elizabeth Becker, nieces Jan Talbert (Charlie), Pam Freeman, nephews Bill Stubbs (Pam), Scott Stubbs (Courtney), Wes Schiwitz (Sally), niece Tracy Dee Stuckey, nephews Glenn Becker (Ginger), Jeff Becker, niece Roxy Becker, nieces Carla Musick, Delra Woram (John), nephew Joey Harsdorff, niece Lori Lorio (Fred), niece Jamie Ayala, nephew Dan Lambeth (Susan) and all the great nephews and nieces.
