Obituary

Carmelo Delgado of Atascocita, Texas peacefully passed away on November 30th, 2024, at the age of 64.

A native of San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, he lived most of his adult life in the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia, until he and his family decided to relocate to Atascocita, Texas in 2007.

Known as "Junior" to his family and friends, he met the love of his life and wife, Mercedes Bravo of 26 years while attending the same church. Together they formed a beautiful, blended family. He was a devout member of The First Christian Missionary Church of Philadelphia and later Humble Worship Center in Texas. Though he enjoyed a quiet life, his reserved demeanor hid a hilarious and deeply loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He cherished every moment spent with his family as well as catching up on baseball with his sons and sons-in-law. He looked forward to Sundays "with the kids and grandkids" as well as working on his cars. He was a wizard mechanic and kept his vehicles meticulously clean, but his greatest love affair was his beloved wife whom he adored. Before passing into the arms of his Savior, Carmelo looked at his wife and said, " you are so beautiful."

He is preceded in joining the Lord by his parents: Carmelo Delgado Rodriguez and Carlina Maldonado Ortiz. He is survived by his wife: Mercedes; children: Jeffrey, Jonathan, Joel, Carlos, Eric, Danilo, Omar, Melissa, and Sylvina; daughters-in-law Edlyn, Amy, and Mariela; sons-in-law David and Tommy; grandchildren: Jereff, Katisha, Jedlyn, Sarah, Melinda, Lucas, Amirah, Gabriel, Steven, little Carmelo III; and his siblings: Rosa Maria, Carmen, Iris Nereida, Zoraida, Victor Manuel, Maria Esther, Ernestina, William and Heriberto Delgado.

His family is deeply saddened by his loss and his absence is sorely felt.

To our beloved dad, we say, "we look forward to the day we meet again, healed and whole, on the other side of the Jordan."

"God will take away all their tears. There will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All the old things have passed away." -Revelation 21:4
