Celebrating the life of Charles Thomas (Tommy) Beck, who was born on May 13, 1948, in Houston, Texas, where he lived until he shipped out for Vietnam. Upon returning, he settled in Webster before moving to New Caney in 1984. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Seldon Beck, as well as his brother, John Beck and his step-son, Earl Ashby. Tommy was the youngest of three children, and the apple of his mother's eye.

Tommy attended Jefferson Davis High School in Houston, while also working at the Houston Post (he read the paper every day of his adult life). Following his graduation, Tommy joined the United States Marine Corps from September 1968-March 1970, where he was stationed at the busiest combat hospital in Da Nang, Vietnam as a casualty reporter responsible for recording critical information about each patient, military and civilian war casualties. All of this information was written on 3x5 index cards and updated daily; there were 320 beds in the hospital. Tommy was exposed to Agent Orange, which caused many health problems for him. He held the rank of

Corporal and received numerous awards and medals, including a Purple Heart.

When Tommy returned from Vietnam, he completed school and apprenticeship through the Pipefitters Union 211, spending most of his career working as a pipefitter at Johnson Controls. He retired in November 2013 after years of loyal service. Implementing his vast knowledge in wood and metal working, he was an artistic gunsmith who used his skills to make beautiful stocks and precisely crafted barrels. In addition, he restored many barrels often considered unrecoverable to like-new condition.

Previously a member of Friendship United Methodist Church and League City United Methodist Church, Tommy joined St Martha's Catholic Church after completing the RCIA program where he learned the history of the Catholic faith which was strengthened through ACTs where he and his wife enjoyed many friendships. Tommy was a member of St. Martha Catholic Church's choir as well as the Kingwood Chorale, and loved classical, spiritual, and Irish music. He is remembered as a quiet, gentle soul, a

compassionate gentleman known for his dry and sometimes silly sense of humor.  Tommy is mourned by his loving wife, Sharon whom he married in 1999; his three daughters, a stepdaughter and their spouses, Emily (Ira) Spates, Erin (Scott) Brown, Elizabeth (Adam) Miller, and Denise (Kyle) Spear; his grandchildren, James Thomas Beck-Powers, Keegan Beck, Joshua Powers, Trey Spates, Ashley Spates, Wayne Ashby, Dana Ashby, Harrison Miller, Lucy Miller, Violet Miller, and Elliott Spear, as well as by his sister, Eva Carol Beck, an uncle, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Services will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024, at St. Martha Holy Family Chapel (4301 Woodridge Parkway, Porter, Texas 77365). Rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m. and funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. There will be a reception for friends and family at 3 B's on the Green (20700 Mills Branch Dr., Porter, Texas 77365). Tommy will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at the Houston National Cemetery (10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038).
