Charles Ray Kelley Sr. passed away peacefully in his home on July 19th, 2023. He was born on December 20th, 1951 in Houston, TX to William Albert Kelley and Mary Eileen Hill as the second of three children. He attended CE King High school there, and following high school, in 1967, went on to begin a career as a carpenter in the home construction business. He built homes all over Texas, and worked for many companies, including Manchester Homes, Stature Homes, US Homes, General Homes, and Shoreline Construction.
After meeting the love of his life, Charles married Teresa Gail Morse on January 9th, 1970. They had three wonderful children together. He volunteered for many years coaching football, baseball and basketball for Sheldon Little League. He also loved fishing, hunting, and all outdoor sports. Eventually, Charles and Teresa took their leave from Houston in 2008 and settled in Dayton, Texas. It was also there, that Charles finally retired after 54 dedicated years in carpentry in 2021.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, William Kelley, and Mary Hill; Son, Jeffrey Kelley; and Brother, Glen Kelley.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Kelley; Sons, Charles Kelley, Jr. (Wife Misty Kelley), and Johnny Kelley (Wife Toni Kelley); Brothers, David Kelley, and Ronnie Kelley; Grandchildren, Devighn Kelley Alonzo, Courtney Guenther, Clayton Kelley, Riley Nichols, Jeffrey Kelley, and Maston Kelley; Great Grandchildren, Brody Kelley, Adalynn Appling, Avery Nichols, and Colt Nichols; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Charles was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for him Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 10:00 am at First Assembly of God Church on 316 E. Fairmont Pkwy, LaPorte, TX 77571.
