Craig Aaron
Smitherman
Oct 26, 1989 — Apr 6, 2024
Craig Aaron Smitherman passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at his home located in Spring, Texas at the age of 34.
Craig grew up in Humble, TX, the son of Gary and Karen Smitherman. At a young age, Craig's charismatic personality shined in all that he did. He was a witty and incredibly gifted child with a knack for getting good grades and making friends with ease. In his adolescent years and through high school, Craig excelled in the classroom, but also on the baseball field, as a gritty competitor with a sweet swing and devastating curve ball. After finishing 10th in his graduating class, and with many All-Star and All-District awards, he earned a scholarship to continue his baseball career at Galveston Junior College. After his college years, he joined the US Navy, serving for 6 plus years in active duty and reserve roles, eventually obtaining the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class, prior to being honorably discharged for his service. Craig seamlessly progressed into his post-military career as force in the mortgage industry, where he navigated families selflessly through the home buying process and became personally invested in his clients' desire to obtain the "American Dream." In this role, he established himself as a top performer, while earning various accolades from his employers. However, it was known that his greatest accomplishment in life was being a father to his son, Cannon, for whom he greatly cherished.
Craig will be remembered for many things, but above all will be his kind soul, brilliance, and his impeccable sense of humor who he shared with those lucky enough to know him and love him.
Craig Aaron Smitherman is survived by his son, Cannon Smitherman of Nacogdoches, TX. His mother, Karen Smitherman of Humble, TX. Craig's brother Jared Smitherman and wife, Heather of Fort Worth, TX, and their children Rylan, Presley, Lainey and Kaydence. His grandmother, Nila Smitherman and grandfather, Rodney Heaton, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Craig Smitherman was preceded in death by his father, Gary Smitherman.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, April 20,2024 at Darst Funeral Home Chapel.
