Obituary

Daniel Cantrell, born September 26, 1972 in New Orleans, Louisiana was the son of Gus and Ilene Cantrell. Daniel departed this life at home, peacefully in his sleep on October 20, 2023.

Daniel grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana and moved to Houston, TX in 2001. He was a graduate and Valedictorian of Brother Martin High school, and received his bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from Tulane University. He married Cynthia on November 8, 1997.

Daniel was one of the smartest people you would ever meet, always with a dry sense of humor and a quiet, calm demeanor. His integrity is unmatched and he was the most moral and decent human being you would ever meet. He had high standards at work and personal life but held himself to the highest standard of all. He had eclectic taste in music, from Wagner opera to 80's hair bands and everything in between. He also never met a computer he couldn't reconfigure and fix for anyone that needed help.

He was a man who truly loved what he did and couldn't wait to go to work every day. Most of all, he prioritized his family. He never missed a swim meet, a concert, an event, a play, or a ceremony no matter how busy he was. He was always the biggest cheerleader for his children, taking countless pictures of them in everything they did.

Daniel is survived by his wife Cynthia Cantrell, his two sons Zachary Cantrell and Kyle Cantrell, his parents Gus and Ilene Cantrell, Grandmother Gloria Raspanti, as well as many cousins, aunts, and uncles.

He would want to be remembered as a good man, a leader and role model, an honest person, a tremendous father, and a loving husband. The legacy he has left in those he knew and most of all his sons is his greatest gift.
