Celebrating the Life of David Jones

Born in Fort Worth,Texas, David Jones never knew a stranger. To walk into a restaurant or a local Kingwood business with David was to witness a masterclass in community; he was inevitably greeted by name, or he would instantly call out yours. A man who truly lived life as the life of the party, David filled every room he entered with his legendary jokes, captivating stories, and an undeniable warmth. He passed away leaving behind a legacy of service, laughter, and an absolute inability to cook a small meal.

A Love Story Fifty Years in the Making

David's greatest adventure began at Lafayette High School in Louisiana, where he played football and met the love of his life, Marie Alice Labbé. Though life and college took them down separate paths for a time—including David's proud service in the United States Navy aboard a submarine (1973 - 1979) — true love found its way back. They rekindled their romance during Marie's final year of college and exchanged vows shortly after her graduation.

Together, they built a beautiful life that took them from Lafayette, Louisiana to Charleston, South Carolina, to Plano, Texas, back to Lafayette, Louisiana before finally settling in Kingwood, Texas, in 1990 with their three children. This year, David and Marie celebrated a monumental 50 years of beautiful, dedicated marriage.

A Lifetime of Hard Work and Service

David was a man of many talents and a resilient entrepreneur. Over his dynamic career, he found success in sonar technology, the oil fields, on construction sites, and in the fast-paced worlds of sales and marketing. For a brief, delicious chapter of his life, he also owned a catering company. That professional venture permanently ruined his ability to scale down a recipe; David simply did not know how to cook for two people. If David was in the kitchen, he was cooking a feast fit for a crowd, which suited his hospitable nature perfectly.

His faith and his community were central to his life. David was incredibly involved in his church's Men's Club and was a deeply active adult leader with the St. Martha Catholic Church youth group, mentoring countless young people with his signature humor and wisdom. He was also a fiercely proud fourth-degree Grand Knight with the St. Martha's Knights of Columbus, embodying their core principles of charity, unity, and fraternity.

His Family and Legacy

David was preceded in death by his beloved adoptive parents, Dana Ray Jones and Delmer Dale Jones, formerly of Lafayette, Louisiana.

His vibrant spirit and joyful legacy live on through his cherished wife, Marie (Labbé) Jones; his three children, Daniel Jones of Las Vegas, Nevada; Denise Ciernia and her husband Jason of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; and Donica Sisney and her husband Nick of Kingwood, Texas. He is also survived by his two living sisters, Dana Jones of Webster, Texas, and Dena Jones of Austin, Texas; and his three adored grandchildren, Jacob, Isabella, and Wyatt Sisney, all of Kingwood, who will forever miss their grandfather's big personality and even bigger heart.

Service Details

The family will receive friends and community members for a visitation on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Darst Funeral Home (700 Russell Palmer Rd, Kingwood, TX).

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 10, 2026, at St. Martha Catholic Church's Chapel located at 4301 Woodridge Parkway, Porter, TX 77365 (serving the Kingwood community).

Interment will take place at the VA Houston National Cemetery at a later date, at the convenience and discretion of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in David's honor to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting America's military heroes and first responders
