Don Eugene Chesnut, age 91, passed away peacefully at his home in Kingwood, TX, on May 21, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Norman and Virginia Chesnut, his son, Marine Lance Corporal Christopher Mark Chesnut, his sister, Billy Jean McDaniel, his brother-in-law, Jay McDaniel, his brothers, Norman and George Chesnut, and brother-in-law, Patrick Kveton.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Angie Chesnut, his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Dr. Thomas Granchi, his daughters Karen Daniel and Cynthia Nulos, his son and daughter-in-law, Bryan Chesnut and Samantha Yurman. Don was also a proud grandfather to Thomas and Ilema Wilker, Ana and John Landreth, Miranda Granchi, Julia Granchi, Isaac Hayes, and Brynlie Chesnut. His legacy continues with his great-grandchildren, Charlotte Landreth and Ellie Landreth.

In 1951, Don enlisted in the Air Force, intending to contribute to the Korean War effort. He trained as a gunner on B-29 Superfortress Bombers and was later accepted into the Aviation Cadet Program. After serving two years and six months, he was honorably discharged following the end of the war in 1953. Don then joined the AFROTC program at East Texas State Teachers College, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He returned to the Air Force as an officer, completing advanced pilot training at Miranda Air Force Base in Arizona. He served two tours of duty before joining the Reserves.

Don began his professional career with IBM, where he excelled as a sales representative for 18 years, earning numerous achievement awards. In late 1982, he joined the fledgling company, Compaq Computers, becoming one of its first employees. He was a proud member of Compaq in 1987 when they hit the $1 billion revenue mark, doing so faster than any other company in history. Don stayed at Compaq until his retirement. Post-retirement, Don continued to consult for numerous companies, sharing his expertise and experience.

A passionate sports fan, Don took immense pride in his daughter Jennifer's accomplishments as Captain of the Duke Basketball team. He cherished watching football, especially enjoying his nephew Keith's games at Rice University and his son Bryan's high school and college football career.

Don was known for his love of people and his kind, generous spirit. He was deeply grateful for the wonderful care and support he received during his final years. Don's warmth, dedication, and zest for life will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
