Donald Gene Hejl, 66, of Humble, Texas, passed away on April 12, 2026.

He was born on April 11, 1960, in Houston, Texas to Joseph and Nelda Hejl.

Don was known for his outgoing nature and great sense of humor, he never met a stranger. To know him was to love him, and he could brighten any room with his jokes and stories. Don was a hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family and always put their needs first. His greatest joy, however, was being Pawpaw. He treasured time spent with his grandchildren and found enjoyment in creating memories filled with love, laughter, and play.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Nelda Hejl, and his brother, Randy Hejl.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Hejl; his children and stepchild, Linda Hejl, Ashley Hinton (husband Austin Hinton), and Chandra Jackson (husband Leland Jackson); his grandchildren and step‑grandchildren, Gray Hinton, Everest Hinton, Chelsey Dargin (husband Freddy Dargin), and Chasity Ferguson (husband Michael Ferguson); his siblings, Joseph Hejl Jr. and Judy Yoakum; and many other family members who loved him dearly.

A life well lived and lovingly remembered. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family is planning a Celebration of Life and will share details once arrangements are finalized.
