Dorothy Frances
Bocklage
d. May 30, 2023
Dorothy "Dottie" Bocklage passed away May 30, 2023.
Dottie was born in Baltimore and spent many years living in New Jersey before settling in the Houston area several years ago.
Dottie spent much of her time over the years volunteering with different service organizations, including the Cedar Wood Womens Club, the Somerset County Visiting Nurses Association, and the Marconi Foundation. She was the first President of the Franklin Township Lioness Club and served in various positions in both the Franklin Township and Kingwood Lions Clubs, including President and Zone Chair.
Dottie enjoyed reading and collecting cookbooks; her current collection numbers over 10,000 volumes, including two of her own that she self-published. She was a Wilton-trained cake decorator and taught cake decorating and cooking classes. Dottie enjoyed reading mystery novels and solving cryptic crossword puzzles. She was known as the "candy lady" to staff at several area restaurants; she always enjoyed making people happy by sharing jokes and treats with them.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Joseph; her son Joseph and daughter-in-law Diana; her daughter Patricia and son-in-law John; her two grandsons Joey and Riley; her nieces Katie, Kirsten, and Christine; and her nephew Ryan. Dottie is predeceased by her sister Barbara.
In lieu of donations to a specific charity, her family ask that you honor Dotties memory by joining people you love in a meal at a restaurant; tell a joke or two to your server and tip them well. Her family hopes that her life spent in service and sharing smiles with those around her will inspire others to share joy whenever possible and to tell those around them how much they are loved.
