Obituary

Elachianna George Valayil was born October 10, 1929 to Itten Kurian and Annamma Kurian in Moolavattom, Kottayam District, Kerala, India as the eldest of 5 children.

In her early days, she impacted the hearts of many through her dedicated services as a Sunday School teacher at the beloved local church. She poured her heart and soul into leaving a lasting mark of love and wisdom on each young soul she encountered.

She moved to Hollywood, Florida in 1984 to join her late son Sunny, and spent a few years there with her other children. She then arrived to Houston in 1990 and lived the remainder of her life with her youngest son Saji and his family.

Fondly known as "Ammachi" to most and "Pennamme" to her husband, she welcomed each person to our home with a warm embrace and a radiant smile, genuinely interested in their well-being. Her nurturing spirit extended to ensuring everyone had enough to eat -- their comfort was her priority. She played an integral role in caring for her grandchildren, imparting upon them the values and insight which have shaped them into who they are today. She cherished her  plants, tending to her garden until her body could no longer keep up with the demands of physical labor. She found occasional solace in the tales of AsiaNet serials, and delighted in recounting memories of times gone by. She attended church regularly, was able to recite several Psalms and found content in daily readings from the Word -- memorizing Bible verses as a testament to her unwavering faith and devotion.

We express our deepest gratitude to the Lord Almighty for gracing us with the presence of a genuinely loving wife, mother, teacher, and friend. Though she has departed to be with our Lord, her memory continues to live within the hearts of all who were touched by her kindness and warmth.

She is survived by her children: Kurian (Roy) Valayil, Mathew (Sali) Valayil, Abraham (Saji) Valayil, and Omana (Molamma) Kuriakose; daughters-in-law: Soosan Valayil, Somi Valayil, and Jessy Valayil; son-in-law: Benny Kuriakose; grandchildren: Minu, Anu, Levin, Subin, Ruben, Ryan, Sarah, and Priya; great grandchildren: Leannah, Johan, Lizbeth, and Lilly; as well as numberous family and friends around the world.
