Elizabeth Marie
Goulden
Dec 15, 1946 — May 13, 2026
Elizabeth "Liz" Goulden, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. She was a woman whose hands were rarely still, spending countless hours sewing, quilting, and smocking beautiful creations for those she loved most. Her greatest joy in life, however, was the time she spent with her family.
Elizabeth was born on December 15, 1946, in Danville, Illinois, to Jack and Marie Lucas. As a young girl, her family moved to New Jersey, where she graduated from Sayreville War Memorial High School. She later married the love of her life, John Goulden, and together with their six boys they built a home filled with love, laughter, and resilience while raising their family in Edison, New Jersey. Later, the family moved to Kingwood, Texas, where they completed their family with the arrival of their cherished daughter.
Elizabeth devoted her life to caring for others. Whether through a lovingly stitched quilt, a handmade smock dress, or a warm family gathering around the table, she showed her love in thoughtful and lasting ways. Her home was always open, and her family was always at the center of her heart. She was a member of the Pineneedle Smockers, Kingwood Quilt Guild, Bee Charitable Bee, Kirbee Quilters, and later in life developed a love of knitting with the Friday Knitters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Marie Lucas; her sisters, Martha Denarski and Bobbie Lucas; her beloved husband, John Goulden; her son, Jeffery Goulden; daughters-in-law, Caroline "Carrie" Goulden and Zorah Goulden; and her grandson, Riley Goulden.
She is survived by her sister Jackie Turnbull, her children: Chris Goulden, James Goulden, Paul Goulden, Phillip Goulden, Glenn Goulden, and Mary Sengele; daughters-in-law Linda Goulden and Jan Goulden; son-in-law D.X. Sengele IV; and her cherished grandchildren: Kathleen Ohe, Sean Goulden, Jillian Conklin, Cameron Goulden, Brian Goulden, Ian Goulden, Kaitlyn Goulden, Patrick Goulden, Liam Goulden, Savannah Goulden, D.X. V Sengele, Rebekah Sengele, Caroline Sengele, and Faith Sengele. She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren Quin Ohe, Ronan Ohe, and Caroline Conklin.
Elizabeth's legacy lives on in the family she treasured, the traditions she created, and the many handmade gifts that will continue to wrap her loved ones in comfort and memory for years to come.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to T.O.P. Foundation, top-foundation.org in Elizabeth's memory.
