Obituary

Fred Kreis, 86 years young, of Porter, TX, passed away on March 16, 2025, after an illness, in Porter, TX. He was born at home in rural Orient, Iowa, on September 6, 1938, to Pauline Mae Fleming Kreis and Clarence Henry Kreis. He graduated from Orient High School in a class of 12 students. He went on to join the United States Air Force in June of 1956, where he studied weather. He also transferred to Ellington Air Force Base in Houston, Texas. That is where he met his future wife Judith Ellen Fowler. Fred and Judy were married in 1959. When Fred left the Air Force in 1960, he started working at Foley's Department Stores as a television repair man. He worked his way up from there to being the Energy Maintenance Supervisor of all the Foley's Department Stores across the country. He retired from Foley's after 38 years with many awards and accolades. He was Not the type to stay still, though. He was involved in Community meetings almost every week. That wasn't enough. Fred always had to stay busy. He went back to work first at Faith Family Baptist Church, doing the same thing he did at Foley's. Then he worked at Kingwood Methodist Church for many years, helping them in the same way. Fred was a member of Second Baptist Church (North Campus) and was as active as he could be in his later years.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Pauline Kreis, and his wife Judy Kreis.

Fred is survived by his daughter Wendy Kreis and his granddaughter Tyeler Kreis. He is also survived by his sister Ruth McGinnis (husband Wayne), and brother George Kreis (wife Hulda). Fred is also survived by his brother-in-law Robert Fowler (wife Dotti), brother-in-law Kevin Fowler (wife Molly), brother-in-law Ricky Fowler (wife Lynn), and brother-in-law Lorin Fowler. Fred also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, and even more great nieces and nephews. There are also so many that Fred helped during his time here, whether it be a kind word, a phone call or a step up in a career field. He was always looking to improve the lives of those around him. He will definitely be missed by many.
