Frederic Alter, age 81, of Houston, TX passed away peacefully in his sleep due to natural causes on January 23, 2023 at his home. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Frederic W. and Margaret Reusing Alter and husband of 53 years to Susan Jordan Alter. A salesman and entrepreneur, he held sales positions at Waverly Press and Southern Tractor and later established the well-regarded printing company Alter Graphics.

He was an accomplished woodworker, fisherman, handyman extraordinaire and a fan of the Houston Rockets, Oilers, and Texans. He was an exceptional and dignified father and friend.

Mr. Alter is survived by his sons, Jason Alter, 48 of Houston TX and Aaron Alter, 47 of Houston TX; brothers, William Alter and wife Delores of Royal Oaks, CA, James Alter and wife, Donna of Fairfax Station, VA, George Alter, and wife Neena of Charlotte, NC, and Stephen Alter and wife, Marian of Leaburg, OR; sisters, Margaret Henrichon and husband, Ernest of Bedford, NH, and Barbara McLaughlin and husband, Patrick of Chester, NH; sister-in-law, Brenda Alter of Forest Hill, MD; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Alter of Forest Hill, MD.
