Geneva Melcer, 88, passed away in the company of family the morning of July 20, 2024. Born in Sheldon, Texas to Polish and German farmers Emma and August Melcer in 1936, Geneva never stopped moving. Working on the farm, then for Exxon, Foleys, and Macy's, giving time to neighbors, to friends, and to family, she never slowed down. Geneva Melcer was fiery. She was quick-witted. She was kind and fiercely loyal. For those she cared for she was sturdy, dependable, and consistent. Geneva was a highly capable force and a committed friend.

Geneva was a pillar in her family, raising her daughter Melissa in Sheldon, Texas and then later moving with her to Humble, Texas. A thoughtful constant for her daughter, a teacher, and friend.

A proud and devoted "Nana" she was always close to her grandsons. From preparing a breakfast of beets, almonds, and aloe juice before school to shuttling them around Houston to buy t-shirts and CDs. Whether she supported them with groceries, laundry, or candy, she made sure everyone was taken care of. Calling, visiting, or just watching the weather where her loved ones were, she was always there. She is remembered for changing the clocks to inspire speed in stubborn, sleepy teenagers; for sending the perfect card for every holiday you could think of; and for gushing at every opportunity about the accomplishments of those she loved.

She was an active member of her church and community. Known by everyone Geneva will be missed by many for her humor, for her smile, and her energy, but mostly for her presence in our lives. She is survived by her daughter Melissa, her grandchildren Patrick (Jennifer), Matthew (Vanessa), and Austin, as well her three great grandchildren Aalon, August, and Ryland.

A visitation will be held Monday, July 22, 2024, from 5:00PM-7:00PM at Darst Funeral Home 796 Russell Palmer Rd Kingwood, TX 77339. A private service will be held with family in Bryan, TX on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.
