Garry Allen Gilmore died peacefully with his family by his side at home in Humble, TX, on February 22nd 2021, at the age of 66.

Garry is survived by his wife, Patty; children, Lacey (Jeremiah Lockhart), Ellie (Mark Mariano), and Jaime (Aaron Geilenfeldt); grandchildren, Brielle, JJ (Jeremiah JR), RaeLynn, Rhaya and Ryker; brother, Bruce. He is preceded in death by his parents Samuel Gilmore and Lillian O'Neill.

Garry was born on July 26th 1954, in Denver, Colorado. He attended John F. Kennedy High School in Denver, CO, where he was a decorated athlete in both golf and basketball. Garry spent his career at the United States Postal Service where he started right out of high school and later retired in 2012. Garry achieved many promotions throughout his career that took him across Colorado, New Mexico and Texas. He was known for his service excellence and won several service and special awards including the Vice President award, and Post Master General award in 2009.

He met the love of his life- Patty, on Thanksgiving in 1981, and they later married in September of 1982. Over the years, they welcomed three daughters and five grandchildren. His family remembers him as a dedicated father and papa who spent his days making a home that was full of fun and lots of love. Garry had a way of bringing people together and he always had a joke ready no matter the occasion. Garry's proudest accomplishment was being a loving husband, father, and papa by creating memorable family traditions throughout his life.

Garry had a lifelong passion as an avid golfer and when he wasn't working, you could always find him on the course both playing and also giving his time where needed. He enjoyed volunteering for veteran events such as Boots for Troops, Base Camp 40, Lone Survivor Foundation and so many more. After retiring from the USPS, Garry was instrumental in working with the local homeowners to reopen the Atascocita Golf club in 2013, and was a much needed mentor to the high school cart staff. In addition to golfing, some of Garry's favorite retirement hobbies were grilling and traveling with family. He loved traveling to tropical places where he could snorkel and spend time on the beach. Maui was a favorite destination for both Garry and Patty.

A memorial in honor of Garry will be held on March 20th at 2:00pm, at the Atascocita Lutheran Church, located at 7927 FM 1960, Humble, TX. Please note that there is a capacity limit at the church of 75 attendees. All family and friends are encouraged to attend a celebration of life reception in honor of Garry's legacy which will be held immediately after at the Atascocita Golf Club, located at 20114 Pinehurst Dr. Atascocita, TX, from 3:30pm - 5pm, on March 20th. There will be another celebration of life to be held in Glenwood Springs, CO in late July, of 2021.
