Obituary

Gloria Ann Miller, 71, passed away on October 28, 2026, just five days after celebrating her 71st birthday.

Gloria was born on October 23, 1955, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Cecil Johnny Stephens and Lucy James.

Gloria was truly one of a kind. She was strong-willed, stubborn, funny, and fiercely loving. She loved completely and unconditionally with her whole heart and soul. Her strong will could certainly give those around her a run for their money, but it was also an unmistakable part of who she was. Gloria had a way of making people laugh while simultaneously making them want to pull their hair out, and she could gossip with the best of them. Those who knew and loved her would not have had her any other way.

She found happiness in the simple things. Gloria loved sitting on the porch with her Starbucks mocha coffee, rain or shine, hot or cold. She enjoyed reading and sewing and, in her earlier years, baking. She especially loved college football and proudly cheered on both the Oklahoma Sooners and LSU Tigers. As a proud Louisiana native, she was also a devoted New Orleans Saints fan. She enjoyed watching NCIS, ordering a good DoorDash meal, and spending time at home. During the last year of her life, one of her greatest sources of happiness was her cat, Sam, who kept her company and brought her tremendous joy and comfort.

Family held a special place in Gloria’s heart, and she shared an unwavering bond with her siblings. She is survived by her siblings, Lana Gonzalez and her husband, Gus; Steve Stephens; Billy Stephens; and Robert Stephens and his wife, Randi. Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Ronnie Stephens, whom she adored and truly thought hung the moon. Ronnie may have been one of the only people who could calm Gloria when her famous stubbornness took over—a feat anyone who knew her would recognize as quite an accomplishment. The bond Gloria shared with Ronnie and all of her siblings was something truly special.

Above all else, Gloria was a mother and grandmother. She is survived by her three daughters, Dawn Hamilton and her husband, Bobby; Stacy Miller; and Aimee Scott; and her four grandchildren, Raegan Levengood and her husband, Kevin; Alexis Bradley; Kaden Miller; and Elijah Scott.

She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish her memory.

Gloria was far from ordinary. She was unapologetically herself—strong, stubborn, loving, funny, and unforgettable. Her family will remember the stories, the laughter, the disagreements, the good times, the hard times, and all of the everyday moments that made Gloria who she was. She will be deeply loved, greatly missed, and forever remembered by those fortunate enough to have known her.

A Celebration of Life honoring Gloria will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Darst Funeral Home in Kingwood, Texas.
