Dr. Hagen Lippke passed peacefully in his sleep at his home in Kingwood, Texas, on Thursday morning, July 24, 2025. Born to Rudolf and Anita Lippke on a family farm in DeWitt County, he lived a life guided by commitment, integrity, and quiet service.

Hagen attended Texas A&M University receiving his B.S. in 1959, and his M.S. in 1961, both in Dairy Science. After serving as a County Extension Agent in Smith County, he attended Iowa State University, receiving his Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition in 1966.

Hagen then began a 37‑year tenure with the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station (now Texas A&M AgriLife Research), culminating as Emeritus Professor of Ruminant Nutrition. His research on forage intake, supplementation, and grazing management remains widely cited, benefiting ranchers and scientists alike.

A lifelong Lutheran, Hagen served St. John Lutheran Church (Angleton) and Trinity Lutheran Church (Uvalde) in many roles—Sunday-school superintendent, choir director, treasurer, and council member. His love of music found a home in the church, where he championed musical efforts, led choirs, and encouraged the next generation of musicians.

Hagen was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mildred "Milly" Lippke, and by his parents. He is survived by his children David (Tina) Lippke, Sheila (Leonard) Childers, and Carl (Heather) Lippke as well as his brothers Rolf Lippke and Lawrence Lippke. He was further blessed with twelve grandchildren, nine great‑grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Whether calibrating a research trial or tuning a choir anthem, Hagen was known for "getting it exactly right" while showing unwavering honesty and generosity.

A memorial service will be held at Strawbridge United Methodist Church in Kingwood, Texas on August 23, 2025 at 2:00 P.M.
