John Edward Hein, Jr. (56) peacefully passed away on July 8th, 2012. John was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme brain cancer in February 2011. Although this is an aggressive cancer which typically has a very short prognosis, John fought valiantly for 17 months, during which time he was blessed to see his daughter graduate from vet school and to see the birth of is first grandchild, John Edward Hein, III.

John was born in Dallas, TX to Betty Jane (Lemmon) Hein and the late John Edward Hein, Sr. He went to John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City, OK where he cultivated a large group of faithful friends who have been by his side until the end. He went on to Austin College, home of the Fighting Kangaroos, where he matriculated with a double major in English and Philosophy. He also briefly attended the University of Oklahoma where he met his wife and best friend, Sharla Woolbright. John and Sharla were married in June of 1983 and raised 2 children together: Haven Elizabeth and Evan Bertram.
