Celebration of Life Service for Jo Helen Swink will take place on the 29th of June, 2024, at Spring Baptist Church, 633 E Louetta Rd., Spring TX 77373 – in A100 Fellowship Hall, located on the northeast corner of the property facing Spring Cypress Road – Directions: I-45 to Spring Cypress Road, go east on Spring Cypress to Mission Road, and turn south; take an immediate left and go to the far corner building on the right; park in any parking near that building. The visitation and viewing of slideshow will start at 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM.

Jo Helen Aly Swink, age 86, passed away to her heavenly home on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 3:41 a.m. at Regent Care Center of The Woodlands, Texas.

She was born the second child on December 16, 1937, to Rev. Carroll Truett Aly and Mrs. Beulah Mae Smart Aly in San Angelo, Texas.

Jo Helen grew up as the daughter of a Southern Baptist preacher. They moved around and lived in many places. She graduated from Crowell High School in Crowell, Texas, in 1956. She then moved on to Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Secretarial Science. Jo Helen met J.W., whom she married in March of 1959, while attending college. They both graduated from Howard Payne University in August of 1960.

Jo Helen began her career as a secretary at McKesson Robbins in Amarillo, Texas, for about a year. She worked at various places as a secretary throughout her career. Some of the jobs were at Rockwell International, PM Realty, Petrolane, and Coach USA. After Jo Helen retired, she held several different jobs, one of which she especially enjoyed in the Music Ministry of Spring Baptist Church where she attended church.

In March of 1968, Jo Helen and J.W. moved to Houston, Texas, where they would reside and raise their family. They were dedicated to raising their three children in a Christian environment. They attended Memorial Baptist Church of Houston, Texas. Jo Helen received Christ as her Savior and was baptized at the young age of six. She loved playing the piano and singing in the church choir. She also taught Sunday School and worked with the youth. Jo Helen was a leader for the Girls in Action (G.A.'s) at Memorial Baptist Church. She and J.W. were quite involved in church throughout their lives together. Many, many wonderful memories were made with so many of their friends who attended church together. She was a very social person and really enjoyed going out to eat and visiting with friends and family.

She had a love for sewing and was quite talented in making clothes for her children, herself, and many others.

She was known for her love of her family and friends. She was a dedicated, very caring, thoughtful, loving wife, mom, Grandma (Gigi), sister, and friend. She loved to give gifts and was very thoughtful of others, especially on their birthdays and Christmas. She truly adored her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends.

Jo Helen had a real love for beautiful things, and she loved to shop, especially for jewelry, makeup, and clothes. "The more bling the better!" Jo Helen loved bright colors!

Jo Helen also enjoyed listening to all types of music including instrumental, classical, Christian, country, and much more. She was quite the vocalist and enjoyed singing.

Jo Helen was preceded in death by her father, Carroll T. Aly, her mother, Beulah M Aly, her foster sister, Dr. Lydia Hilty, sister-in-law Mary Swink, her brother, Carroll T. Aly, Jr., and brother-in-law Kenneth Swink.

Jo Helen is survived by her husband J.W. Swink of Houston, Texas. They celebrated 65 years of marriage on March 20, 2024. She is likewise survived by her children, daughter Cheryl Swink Duke of Spring, Texas, daughter Belinda Swink Worsham and her husband, Joe Worsham, of Georgetown, Texas, and son Daryle Swink of Spring, Texas; six grandchildren, Bryan Duke and wife Rachel of Pace, Florida, Jeff Duke and wife Valerie, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Cristina Duke Black and her husband Jason of Willis, Texas, Caleb Sapp of Houston, Texas, Joshua Sapp of Georgetown, Texas, and Brandon Swink of LaPorte, Texas; seven great grandchildren, Faith and Megan Duke, Berkleigh, Dawsyn, and Beckham Black, and Camden and Bennett Duke; sister-in-law Jaime Wilma Haney Aly of Azle, Texas, brother-in-law Dan Hilty of Arvada, Colorado, Bill and Rosalie Swink, brother and sister in-law from Borger, Texas; Bob and Gerri Swink, Steve and Ben Swink, and other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to request a brightly colored dress code in honor of Jo Helen and her love for them.
