John Alan Root Sr.

May 11, 1948 – April 17, 2026

John Alan Root Sr., age 77, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026, in Kingwood, Texas.

Born on May 11, 1948 in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, John was the son of Charles A. Root and Bertha Cloud. He was a hardworking man whose life was defined by dedication, skill, and the things he loved most.

John was a certified master auto and trailer mechanic who spent much of his life working on cars and tractor trailers and he was continually perfecting his craft. He took great pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic and mechanical talent. After moving to Kingwood, Texas, he continued his career until his retirement.

Outside of work, John had many passions that brought him joy. He loved working on cars, collecting classic automobiles, coins, ships, and clocks. He appreciated craftsmanship, history, and the satisfaction of restoring and preserving treasured items.

On June 23, 1986, John married the love of his life, Syndi. Together they built a beautiful life with their blended family and they shared 27 wonderful years of marriage until her passing. Their bond and life together remained one of John's greatest blessings.

John is proceeded in death by his brothers David, Ronald and his sister Joyce.

He is survived by Gary and wife Margie, grandchildren Kristy and Ricky, and great-grandchildren Gabrielle and Isiah; William and wife Judy, grandchildren Victoria and Vincent; Lisa and husband Greg, grandchildren Brittany, Kelsey and husband Blaine, and great-grandchildren Ellie and Emma; and Sam Root along with his other children John and Dawn and their family.

John will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love for family and friends, all of his knowledge and skills, and the many memories he created with those who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 15, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Darst Funeral Home in Kingwood, Texas
