Johnnie B.
Miley
Feb 2, 1946 — Apr 26, 2025
J. B.'s DASH
Born February 2nd, 1946, to Dartha and A.D. Miley in Nacogdoches, Texas. They later moved to the east side of Houston, to the Cloverleaf subdivision, where he attended Cloverleaf Elementary and North Shore Junior High. During his junior year in high school, through mutual friendships, he met the love of his life, Charlene Gregory.
After both graduating from High School in 1966- Mom from South Houston and Dad from North Shore- he enlisted into the United States Air Force to serve and protect our great Nation.
July 8th, 1967, Charlene and J.B. married. Sometime during their marriage, dad and us three boys kept telling mom that their Anniversary was on July 7th. We had her so convinced that she found the wedding license to prove us wrong, but we knew it was the 8th, that was the many ways that J.B. would get a laugh out of her.
In October of 1968, Dad was deployed Tuy Hoa (twee hwa) Air Base with the 31st Tactical Fighter Wing Maintenance Squadron. In July 1969, he took R&R and met Mother in Hawaii to celebrate their second wedding anniversary. Two months later in September, he returned home.
On July 4th, 1970, Charlene and J.B. started their family and lived in Greens Bayou, they later moved to Celina, Texas and on August 23, 1972, their family grew now with two sons. They would move back to Cloverleaf in 1974 and bought a house on Hollywood Street. On December 7th, 1981, they welcomed their third and final son to the family.
In 1986 we all moved to Channelview, where he built Mom their dream home. Although it took a lot longer than planned, through his patience and determination, it was completed. Dad always enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, and swimming. He always liked to stay busy and did not care to sit still; especially when there was work to be done. He always provided everything that we needed and made sure our wants were met as well. He came from a generation where "if it ain't broke, don't fix it and if is broke, try everything you can to get it fixed". And why buy it when you can build it or make it yourself?
Growing up, he taught us three boys to do everything the right way and don't quit until it was done right (nothing halfhearted). I was always amazed how any time he helped me with working on bikes, lawnmowers, cars, etc., he made it look so easy. Honestly, I don't think he ever made anything look hard, well... except maybe raising us three boys.
Dad took his final earthly breath in the early morning hours on April 26th, 2025, and peacefully passed away and went home to be with Jesus.
Knowing him, I bet he is picking out a spot to build another home and when we finally join him, he'll be saying "about time, took ya' long enough. Let's go... hurry up, we've got work to do". Dad is preceded in death by his Parents A.D. & Dartha Miley, Brothers, Lendell and Vernon Miley and Sister Garvis Cox. Mother and Father In-law, Charles and Sally Gregory.
Dad is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Charlene Miley, sons, Johnnie Miley Jr. and Wife Melissa, Charles "Bubba" Miley, Benjamin "B.J" Miley and Wife Donna. Three Grandsons, Brandon Miley, Matthew Miley and Jaden Miley. Great Grand Daughter Zoey Miley.
