Josephine Navarro Perez, age 76, was called home by our Heavenly Father on June 20, 2022, in Houston, Texas. She was a woman of deep love for the Lord and the Church. Her trust in God sustained her during her health struggles for fifteen years. Josephine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was blessed to have a supportive and loving family and friends. Josephine treasured spending time with her husband Jim, daughter Minerva, son-in-law Andrew, and grandchildren Andrew and Madison. She was always supportive of their academic accomplishments, extracurricular activities, and professional endeavors. She always strived to create special memories through her loving ways, especially on birthdays and holidays. Her faith, courage, and determination were an inspiration to all those who witnessed her accomplishments and overcoming the health struggles throughout her life. She was a pillar of strength for her family and friends. Josephine was a compassionate woman and always willing to offer her support. She was a generous soul who always helped those in need. She strived to improve the opportunities for better education, employment, and safe communities by volunteering as a grassroots community activist in her young adult years. She was a champion for the little guy in hopes that people from all walks of life would have the opportunity to obtain the American Dream. Josephine had a big dream and her legacy has been passed on to her family and community and they are reaping the rewards of the sacrifices made by her generation for generations to come.

Josephine was a longtime parishioner of St. Martha Catholic Church in Kingwood, Texas, and founded the Hispanic Ministry for the Parish under the direction of Rev. Terrance Brinkman, Pastor. Her greatest joy was planning the Our Lady of Guadalupe Feast Day Celebration for the entire parish. It was an opportunity to celebrate Our Lady and share her Marian devotion with the parish. Josephines strong faith in God led her to discern to the Order of Carmel Discalced Seculars and she celebrated her clothing on September 9, 2000, made her first promise on December 20, 2003, and made her definitive promise on August 30, 2008. She served her Carmel community as the Formation Director until she became unable to serve due to her illness. She always offered her support and encouragement through her daily prayers. She was an example of what a true mother should be and what we will strive to achieve. Her zest for life would always bring smiles to all those around her. Yes, she was the life of the party. Josephine will be forever missed by her husband, daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, friends, and all who had the pleasure to know her.

Josephine was born on March 19, 1946, in Houston Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents Antonio C. Navarro and Juanita Navarro, grandmother Clemencia Montalvo, and her son Jim-Joseph Perez. She is also preceded in death by her siblings Dolores Torres, Minerva Navarro, Julio Navarro, Lionel Navarro, and Alice Navarro. Josephine is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years Jim Perez, loving daughter Minerva Romo and spouse Andrew Romo, and her grandchildren Andrew Scott Romo and Madison Ashley Romo. She also leaves behind her surviving siblings Alice Villarreal, Emily Santos, Yolanda N. Flores, Anthony Navarro, Joe Navarro, and spouses with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Josephine had a special friend Cecilia Diaz, a surrogate sister who provided extraordinary care and friendship throughout her long illness. We also wish to thank her medical care team for providing extraordinary care to Josephine - Dr. Mohammed Attar, Dr. Ronald Ralph, Dr. Eric Peden, and Dr. Austin O. Williams. We also want to thank US Renal staff Fred, Maggie, and Liz for caring for Josephine for the past eight years.

Service Information A Visitation will be held for Josephine Navarro Perez at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church located at 1801 Sage Road, Houston, Texas 77056 on Tuesday, June 28 from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. with a Vigil and Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated the following day on Wednesday, June 29 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.
