Obituary

Karen was born to Harry D. and Sina B. Long in Jacksonville, FL and grew up with her younger siblings Kathy and Mark in Brunswick on the beautiful coast of Georgia. She graduated from Glynn Academy High School, Brunswick Jr.(now Coastal) College, and the University of Georgia.

She taught middle school students with special needs for 30 years in Covington, GA, Spring, TX and at Kingwood and Creekwood Middle Schools in Humble ISD, retiring in 2004.

Karen married John (Jack) Eastman from New Albany, IN in 1976 and moved to Kingwood in 1981. They also lived in Atlanta, Pittsburgh & Houston.

Karen: accepted Jesus at the age of 12 and has belonged to Baptist, Methodist, and Presbyterian churches saw President Johnson, her two Georgia senators and the Beatles on the same day in 1964. went to the World's Fair in 1965 in NYC flew in her cousin's plane over Niagara Falls got her Master's Degree at the University of Georgia in 1975, after taking Saturday and summer classes for three years rode the Goodyear Blimp. She grew up watching Navy blimps from the nearby naval air station was in the Boston Harbor in 1997 when the U.S.S. Constitution returned from a cruise celebrating its two-hundred-year anniversary as a navy vessel was in touch with many high school friends, especially after their 50th reunion in 2019 loved Christmas - especially holiday trips to NYC and visits to see relatives and friends to see their decorations and to celebrate Jesus' birth enjoyed travel to many places, including the Rhine River, Paris, the Christmas Market in Munich, and the castles nearby, cruises, the Biltmoore in Asheville, NC, Argentina, and Fredericksburg, TX was "hooked" on sweet foods and thrift store shopping

Karen passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 6, 2022. She is predeceased by her husband Jack, parents Harry and Sina Long, brother Mark Long, and sister Camille McDougald. She is survived by her sister Kathy Long and cousins in Jacksonville, Jack's children Ann (Pat) Kerchner in Conroe and their family; Julia (Robert) Pike in Kingwood and their family; Reid (Lana) Eastman in New Caney and their family; niece April (Scot) Howard and nephew Scott (Dawn) McDougald and their children, all in the Athens, GA area.

Visitation will be held at Darst Funeral Home, located at 796 Russell Palmer Road, Kingwood, TX 77339 on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.

There will be a memorial service to follow at First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood located at 5520 Kingwood Drive, Kingwood, TX 77345 on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 10 a.m. Service Information Visitation: Friday 12/9/2022 5-7 PM
