With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Lajuana Joy Borick of Kingwood, Texas. Lajuana Joy Borick was born on Monday, November 6th, 1933 in Carter, Oklahoma to Bert C. Stewart and Vestal Lorene Campbell Stewart. Her family moved to the Roswell, New Mexico area during the Great Depression. As a girl she grew up with three brothers, Ronny Stewart, and two other brothers, Glinnis and Royce, who were disabled by Cerebral Palsy.

She was an avid reader and writer since an early age, appearing in a local Roswell Newspaper as a essay contest winner in the 1949 annual essay contest sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary to VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) and the Roswell Morning Dispatch at the young age of 16 years old. Her fondest memories were going out to watch the latest movies at the Plains Theater in Roswell and working at a local Soda Fountain as a soda jerk, which they were called back then.

Lajuana Borick's diverse career started with a part-time job after school in her Senior year as a clerk at a Soda Fountain in Roswell, New Mexico in 1949 where she met and married Matthew Borick who was in the Air Force stationed at Walker Air Force Base. Since she married in her Senior year she decided to leave school and get her High School equivalency diploma (GED) because shortly after the honeymoon she became pregnant with her first child, Yolonda who was born in 1950. During her pregnancy she obtained her GED and then went to a local college to be trained as an Administrative Assistant/Secretary for the next two years.

In 1953, Lajuana and Matt were transferred to Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, Texas. Lajuana was pregnant with her second child, Stephen who was born in 1954. After a year at home she went back to work as an Administrative Assistant to the local Sheriff. In this job she did much more than an Administrative Assistant since she traveled in the field with Police Officers, as needed, to handle cases involving women and children.

In 1956, Lajuana and Matt were transferred to March Air Force Base in Riverside, California. Lajuana balanced her life between being a mother and pursuing her career, as an Administrative Assistant at Air Combat Command.

In 1959, Lajuana and Matt were transferred to Ernest Harmon Air Force Base in Stephenville, Newfoundland (Canada). Harmon Air Force Base was the 11th Bombardment Group as an operational B-29 base which was strategic in the "Cold War". Lajuana worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Fighter Interceptor Squadron which was part of Air Defense Command.

In 1962, Lajuana and Matt were transferred to Loring Air Force Base near Limestone, Maine. Loring Air Force Base was one of the largest bases of the U.S. Air Force Strategic Air Command and were positioned as the first to engage the enemy during the Cold War. Lajuana Borick was the Administrative Assistant to the Squadron Commander of the 27th Fighter Squadron which was called the "Fightin Eagles".

In 1965, Lajuana and Matt were transferred to Keesler Air Force Base Biloxi, Mississippi. Lajuana worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Mayor of Biloxi. She organized and participated in all conventions and speaking engagements, while assisting with Legal aspects associated with the office.

In 1968, Matt retired from the Air Force with their next move to New Orleans, Louisiana. Lajuana worked for the owner of the largest legal firm in New Orleans. She assisted in legal briefs and participated in the courtroom.

In 1972, Lajuana had her third child, Brian, and a year later, they decided to move to Ocean Springs, Mississippi. In 1973, Lajuana worked at Ingall's Shipyard in Pascagoula, Mississippi as an Administrative Assistant to one of the Senior Executives. As the years went by her husband had an opportunity to work for Boeing in the Northwest, so they packed up and headed to the West Coast.

In 1980, Lajuana and Matt moved to the Seattle, Washington area. Shortly afterward, her daughter Yolanda would move up to the Seattle area with her children to join our family's Northwest expedition of sorts. Lajuana worked for Temp Agencies to fill various industry needs before landing a job for First Interstate Bank within the Historic University National Bank Building in the University District were she loved the energy of the city, as well as, the local residents and University of Washington students in that vibrant part of Seattle. Everyone that knew her at the time, knew she was a foodie, loved going out, & experiencing all that her environment offered.

Lajuana first settled in Mukilteo in the early 1980s, just North of Seattle, while her husband Matt was working at Boeing. Lajuana was commuting to Downtown Seattle for work, for quite some time before eventually deciding to move further North of Seattle for a period of time to support Brian's growth between his middle school to high school years, away from the big city area.

While moving to the Lake Goodwin, Smokey Point, Arlington, & Marysville areas they were able to enjoy the small town life for a while. It was there that Lajuana would utilize her previous experience in both the legal and political fields to explore her passion for politics. Lajuana was once again in the newspapers at the Snohomish County Republican Convention as the official convention recorder, had a chance to work with many influential politicians, as well as, work on many of their campaigns for their seats in the House of Representatives, Senate, & Presidency.

Lajuana's experience working for the Mayor of Biloxi in 1965 & then the Legal Firm in New Orleans in 1968, propelled her in the political realm and positioned her for her next love, the legal system. She went back to college, in the Seattle area, for her Paralegal degree and worked at numerous Legal Firms and Insurance Companies within the later 1980s to the early 1990s, until her retirement. In 1995, Lajuana retired, snow-birding & traveling throughout the country with her husband and settling in Seattle, Washington until the death of her husband in 2009.

In 2009, she moved to Kingwood, Texas to live with her son Stephen and his wife Vivian. She occupied one of the bedrooms in the house and enjoyed living vicariously through Steve and Vivian's lives while driving off to find new adventures in the local area. In 2016, she moved to an Independent Living Facility called Reunion Court in Kingwood, Texas. During this time her son Stephen & his wife Vivian took wonderful care of her throughout her aging years, until her passing in 2023.

Lajuana shared her Christian Faith by writing and distributing booklets. In addition, she organized pastor visitations at Reunion Court. Lajuana had significant influence with people in her community and family through her faith. She was known for a positive and caring attitude. Lajuana's excitement for life was truly infectious in the most positive of ways.

Lajuana Borick passed from this earthly plain into the loving arms of Jesus Christ in Heaven, with her family reassuring her of their love, holding her hands, showering her with kisses, in the light of our Lord's Birth Celebration with Christmas tree lights & worship music. We believe that she is in awe at the Majesty of God, reuniting with family & friends, while going through an experience that is inconceivable to the human mind.

Lajuana Borick has been the Matriarch of this family tree for so many years. Now leaving, from reverse order, her son Brian Borick and Darya Borick's lineage, with grandson Brandon Borick; her son Stephen Borick and Vivian Borick's lineage; with granddaughter Stephanie Borick Grace and John Grace, great grandson Jack Grace, great granddaughter Greta Grace, great granddaughter Roxie Grace; Jessica Borick Young (Mom's granddaughter in Heaven with her now) and Joe Young; Ben Borick (Mom's grandson in Heaven with her now) and Mariah, with surviving great grandson Rowan Borick; grandson Adam Gunn and Shelley Gunn, great granddaughter Violet Gunn; her daughter Yolanda Borick Brownwell-Naggy's lineage (Mom's daughter in Heaven with her now), granddaughter Challase and Dave Hitch, with great granddaughter Kendel Hitch; granddaughter Athena Brownwell (Mom's first granddaughter in Heaven with her now), with surviving great grandchildren: Heather, Megan, Beth, and Ryan Birdsong. May all of our loved ones be reunited in peace, under the Authority, Grace, and Love of God.
