Larry James Moody, known lovingly as Larry, was born on November 9, 1949, in Nashville, TN, and passed away on December 10, 2025. A man of noble character, Larry was a beacon of strength, courage, and love, whose influence will continue to be felt by all those who had the privilege of knowing him. In the words of Isaiah 40:31, "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint," Larry lived his life in unwavering faith, and his spirit continues to inspire us.
Larry was a devoted worshiper at First Methodist Houston, and his faith was a testament to his character. He was a man who embodied the principles of his faith, his kindness and compassion resonating with everyone he encountered. Larry's career was a reflection of his dedication to service. He served in the Army National Guard and the Air Force, receiving an honorable discharge from both. Larry then joined the Houston Police Department, where he served as a police officer until his retirement in 2000. His bravery and commitment to protecting his community were truly remarkable. He also served in the Swat Team.
Larry leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication in his sons and daughter : Larry Jr., Steven Michael, Jamie and daughter in law Sarah Jennifer, as well as his daughter-in-law Cassie, and son-in-law Darin Hunt, who are married to Steven and Jennifer respectively. Larry was preceded in death by his wife of 53 yeats Patricia Moody beloved parents, Thomas and Doris Moody. We remember Larry as a loving father, a dedicated public servant, and a steadfast believer in the power of faith.
