Dr. Linda Corbell Scarpa, 78, passed away on March 12, 2025, in Humble, Texas, after a brief illness. She was born on August 9,1946, in Fort Worth, Texas to Fay and Grady Corbell. Linda was a loving and devoted mother, nana, and friend.

She is survived by her two daughters, Shelley Mattson and Ann Scarpa. Linda is also survived by her two grandsons, Colby and Brady Mattson, three granddogs Timber, Dodger and Patty, and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Fay and Grady Corbell and her brother, Tommy Corbell.

Linda's passion for education led her to obtain a BA Degree in Education Secondary Mathematics, History from San Angelo College, a MA Degree in Secondary Education, Computer Science from the University of Texas at the Permian Basin, and a Doctorate Degree of Educational Leadership from Baylor University.

Linda worked in public education for thirty-two years as a math and computer science teacher and an administrator in Instructional Technology. She worked for Huntsville ISD, Ector County ISD, Waco ISD and Pasadena ISD. While at Pasadena ISD, she began the Pasadena Virtual School. After retirement from public education, she served as a consultant working with the Texas Virtual School and the Texas Virtual School Network.

Linda's greatest joy was spending time with her grandsons. Even in retirement, she leveraged her strong background in public education to help them with their assignments whenever they needed extra support. Her favorite pastime was watching Jeopardy and challenging her oldest grandson to see who could answer the most questions correctly. Her youngest grandson would spend hours teaching her about all the animals of the world. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
