Madsen, Martin
S
d. Feb 24, 2019
Martin Sigwald Madsen began his life in 1923 in the picturesque village of Kvinesdal, Norway, the youngest of four children born to Ida and Olaf Madsen.
Martin served in the Merchant Marines and later made his way to the United States where he worked as a tugboat deckhand in New York. Martin enjoyed many great times in New York with his sister, Lina; her husband, Leif; and their daughter, Lorrene. One particularly fun event was a trip to Niagara Falls. Martin enjoyed fishing and, while visiting family members in Norway, was able to put those skill to very good use.
Martin was a member of the Sons of Norway in New York and enjoyed the company of many fellow Norwegians. Martin also attended the Norwegian Seamans Church in New York. He loved to bowl and joined a league; he was the recipient of numerous bowling trophies.
Martin was a gentle, kind and generous man who has now joined his sisters in heaven. Service Information Interment: A graveside service was held on 2018-10-19 at Brookside Memorial Park.
