Maria Del Socorro Ortiz, 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 30, 2023 in Houston, Texas. She was born to Pedro Garmendez and Maria Amparo Torres on November 3, 1949 in El Salvador. Maria was a hard working lady and she liked to cook and take care of her family.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Jorge Ortiz; daughter, Evelyn Palacios, husband Milton; sons, Romeo Palacios, Jose Palacios, Jorge Ortiz, wife Maria, Pedro Ortiz, wife Juliana; sisters, Teresa Torres and Olga Torres; 18 grandchildren; numerous other relatives and a host of loving friends.

A visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Darst Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 6, 2023 at Darst Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Herman Turcios officiating.
