Obituary

Mary Cecilia Huezo, born September 29th of 1954, passed on peacefully at home in the afternoon of November 13th, 2024 at age 70.

She lived in Kingwood, TX with husband Frank Huezo, and is survived by her three children, Ali Weatherford, Frank Huezo, Jr., and Vanessa Huezo, their spouses Clay Weatherford, Shawna Ivy Huezo, Brian Junio, and grandchildren Ava Weatherford, Daniel Weatherford, Edie Huezo, and Remy Huezo.

Mary was born Mary Cecilia Brochtrup. She was raised in Houston, TX by parents Leo and Lois Brochtrup, and with her six siblings, Eileen Lorette, Tony Brochtrup, Tesa Sullivan, Anne Brochtrup, Joe Brochtrup, and Andy Brochtrup. Her childhood friends and family share memories of Mary as a very athletic, bright, and especially kind person. She was an excellent swimmer and played basketball, some occasional street baseball, and was valedictorian of her graduating high school class. Mary went on to be one of the first women to attend A&M University at College Station. There, she met her husband Frank Huezo and they were soon married. They moved to his home country of Nicaragua in Central America and welcomed their first child soon after. Guided by political unrest in the region, they moved back to the United States in 1979 and together have been growing businesses, homes, children, and grandchildren ever since.

In the last decades of her life, Mary most enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren while also teaching them to be good at some of her favorite things including sewing, getting things to grow, crafting, decorating, and cooking. She loved being able to take all of her children on fun and adventurous vacations with her husband, and was always sure to make visits to their home warm and nurturing.

She will be remembered by all as a hard worker, a gracious hostess, and a soft and loving presence.

Her memorial services will be held at Darst Funeral Home in Kingwood, TX on Monday, November 18th at 2pm.
