Mary Purpus Timura passed away at home peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 81 on Friday August 2,2024. Mary was born in Columbus, Ohio October 16, 1942, to the late Paul Purpus and Virginia Eveland Purpus. She was the oldest of four children.

Mary grew up in Dayton, Ohio. She graduated from Chaminade Julienne High School in 1960 and attended the University of Dayton, where she met her husband of sixty-one years, Andrew Timura. They married on December15, 1962 at Corpus Cristi Church, Dayton Ohio. The loving couple lived in different regions of the country while raising their children, finally settling in Kingwood, Texas to be near family. Over the years, many great memories were made at family gatherings during holidays, birthdays, graduations, sporting events, and frequent get togethers.

Mary was extremely hardworking, many times wearing various "hats" as wife, mother, cook, taxi driver, cleaner, and student. While raising her three children and managing a household, often times by herself when Andy was away on business, Mary was able to accomplish graduating from SUNY College Geneseo, with a bachelor's degree in marketing. She finished her career working at a research marketing firm in Kingwood, TX as an analyst in the oil and gas industry. Mary thrived in her career by meeting interesting people while on business trips across the country or by phone.

Mary was a social butterfly who never met a stranger! She was a voracious reader and skilled bridge player. Mary enjoyed tending her yard/garden every season and loved her vibrant coral flowers scattered out back. She was active in the 18-hole golf group at Kingwood Country Club. Mary and Andy were avid country western two-step dancers. Crowds would often gather to watch the beautiful couple glide across dance floors from Texas to California. She loved the beach! Mary and Andy's favorite vacation spot was Maui. The sweet couple were thrilled to be able to celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary in Kaanapali, Hawaii with their grown children and their spouses.

Mary will be missed by all who knew her. She is at peace and is now able to watch over her family and loved ones. Rest in Peace sweet Mary/Mom/Nana.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on August 11, 2024, from11:00-2:00 at the Kingwood Country Club Lakeside Terrace. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be given by donating to the MD Anderson Cancer Foundation at Gifts.mdanderson.org "in Loving Memory of Mary P. Timura".
