Obituary

Michael James Andresen 10/19/1956 – 08/30/2025

It is with great sadness that our Family announces the recent passing of a very special person, Michael J. Andresen. A son, brother, father, husband and a friend; all of which he strived to be the best. Mike was born in Dubuque, Iowa and he enjoyed growing up in this nice quiet town.

As a young adult he decided to join the Army and to find himself. In the military, he worked in the medical records field and serviced some of his time in Korea. After 8 years in the Army, he went to programming school and left the military. Programming school gave him the foundation for the remainder of his working life. He spent 19 years in the Houston, Texas area and he enjoyed his work, playing poker and golf with his friends and co-workers. Mike was also a big Cubs baseball fan and went to several games.

Later in his life, he found himself single again and he remembered, as a kid, how he enjoyed all those summer vacations. His parents would take the family to all different areas of the US – so, his desire to travel was reignited, so off he went. He visited over 25 countries with African countries being the most visited. During the early days of his travels, while on a group trip to Africa, Mike met another traveler and she later became his wife, Laura. They spent the next 10 years, seeing many more places and more of Africa. They eventually settled in a senior community in central Texas and enjoyed watching, the "smaller animals" migrate pass their backyard.

Mike knew his health was declining and he so treasured the times he spent with family and friends when they would come to visit. Mike is survived by his mother, wife, sisters, a brother, sons, a daughter in-law, grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mike would want us to remember the special times that we had with him verses being sad that he is no longer with us. By remembering him, he is still in our lives.
