Obituary

Michelle Renee Walters, 49, of Porter, Texas passed away on May 20, 2023. Michelle was born on February 1,1974 to David Michael and Tommie Jeanne Staley. Michelle married Carlin Walters on October 24,1998 in Vidor, Texas. They spent twenty-five years together, living in Atascocita, Kingwood, Granbury, and Porter Texas. Michelle lives on through her husband, Carlin Walters of Porter, TX, and their three children: Carley Walters of Porter, TX, Joseph Walters of Porter TX, and Luke Walters of Porter TX. She is also survived by her mother Tommie Jeanne Staley of Pasadena, TX and two brothers: Chris Staley (Rhonda) of Friendswood, TX, and Michael Staley (Theresa) of Pasadena, TX.

Raised in Pasadena, Texas, Michelle graduated from Sam Rayburn Highschool in 1992, where she danced for two years on the TexAnns drill team. After high school, Michelle worked for Texas Mill as a telephone operator. She met her husband, Carlin Walters, while he was on hold with her. They would often talk over the phone while he waited for her to transfer his call and fell in love before they ever saw one another. Carlin and Michelle eventually met in person, despite living in separate states. They were married not long after. Michelle's dream was to be a mother, and her dream came true in 2002 (Carley), 2004 (Joseph), 2005 (Luke), and 2008 (David). David passed away on March 24, 2008. Michelle was a stay-at-home, home-schooling mother for the majority of her life. She supported and celebrated her children and husband in every way she could: helping her husband through six years of deaconate preparation in the Catholic Church; helping her daughter attend her dream college; attending every one of her sons' rugby games and cheering deafeningly. She led her children by setting an impeccable example of personhood, which they hope to imitate. She was unceasingly devoted to her faith and her family. Michelle converted to the Catholic Faith and was baptized and confirmed in 1999. She was an active member in the St. Martha Catholic Church (Kingwood TX) community. She served as a Eucharistic minister, volunteered with Jerome's Hope, served on several ACTS retreats, helped lead youth faith formation, and worked in the Mother's Day Out Program and church nursery. Michelle loved her faith-she loved serving and spreading the joy she carried with her everywhere. Michelle was first diagnosed with breast cancer on February 7, 2020. She fought courageously throughout her entire journey with cancer, raising awareness and funds for cancer research.

In lieu of sending flowers for her service, her family asks that donations be made, dedicated in Michelle's memory, to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, an organization that was always very close to her Heart.
