Millie Theus (Nichols) Craig, 84, died on November 18, 2024 in College Station, Texas after a 5 year journey with dementia. She was born on December 4, 1939 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Jesse Van and Mattie Blake Theus Nichols. Ms. Craig received her bachelor's and master's degrees in mathematics from the University of Mississippi. She lived in Mississippi until her marriage to the late Orga V. Craig. She was a Texas resident since 1962 and lived in Kingwood since 1973. In 2019 she moved to The Langford Methodist Retirement Community in College Station.

Ms. Craig served in many volunteer activities, including the local emergency services for over 20 years, and was both an attendee and instructor at the Texas A&M Fire School. She was a former fire chief in the Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department and is credited with being the first woman volunteer fire chief in the State of Texas. She received the Jefferson Award for volunteerism and was a recipient of the Communicator of the Year Award for the State of Texas. For several years, she taught mathematics at Port Neches-Groves High School and Kingwood College. She was a member of the Kingwood Methodist Church since 1973.

She is survived by son David O. Craig and wife Cynthia of Klein, TX, son Brian N. Craig and wife Tracie of Beaumont; four grandchildren, Julie (Craig) Daughters and husband Chris of North Richland Hills, TX, Benjamin O. Craig of Needville, TX, John S. Craig and wife Meghan of Denton, TX, and Alexandra N. Craig; and two great-grandchildren Nolan M. Daughters and Millie J. Daughters.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 20, 2024, at 11:00AM at the Kingwood Methodist Church followed by burial services at Houston National Cemetery at 1:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Alzheimer's Foundation of America (https://alzfdn.org) or to a favorite charity. The family would like to thank the nurses, caregivers and staff at The Langford MRC and the nurses at Enhabit Hospice for their amazing support.
