Derek Paul Moyer was born to Rick and Lisa Moyer on November 2, 1988 in Columbus, Ohio. He was the third of eight children. Not long after Derek's birth, Rick and Lisa moved from Ohio to Houston, Texas where Derek then lived the rest of his life until September 8th, 2016.

His siblings are: Shantel, Richard, Dustin, Arianna, Ryan, Jarrod, and Jordyn.

Derek and Chloe Elizabeth had two children together: Izabel Lou and Easton Royce Moyer.

In his early youth, Derek spent much of his time outdoors playing games such as backyard football and cops and robbers, often with longtime family friend, Timathy Idom, with whom he had many great adventures and moments of childhood mischief. But, perhaps his greatest joy as a child was hopping onto his bike and getting lost while exploring the world around him on the many Greenbelts that wound their way through the neighborhood. Sometimes with his siblings, sometimes alone. But always with a free heart and hunger to explore the unknown.
