Derenda Joyce Rockenbach 12/13/1944 - 12/17/2023, beautiful and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt.
Derenda "Joyce" Rockenbach (ne Henson, formerly Johns), age 79 of Houston, passed away on December 17th.
Born in Houston to the late Elton Odell and Lorraine (Mills) Henson, Joyce was a loving and supportive military wife and mother, who traveled extensively while raising 6 children, eventually settling back in Houston in 1970. She began her tax career with H and R Block at that time, building on her knowledge and skills, continuing her education, and earning the title of Enrolled Agent with the IRS. Joyce signed her first lease for Tax Plus on Aug. 8, 1985, and spent the next 38 years dedicated to and growing her business.
Joyce's hobby and passion was collecting photos and documenting all of life's moments-big and small. She enjoyed scrapbooking and paper crafts.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death her husband, Ralph Rockenbach, sisters Lorretta Nalley (ne Henson) and Barbara Knight (ne Mills), and her daughter Lorana-Anne Johns.
Joyce is survived by her loving children, Roger Rockenbach, Denver, CO, Cindy Fletcher (Mark Bryan), Austin, TX, Debera Johns (Tamara Mullin), Round Lake, IL, Patricia Sterling (Joe), Spring, TX, David Rockenbach I, Nolanville, TX, and Allen Rockenbach (Jeannie), Houston, TX; her sister Mary Smith, Little Elm, TX; and her brother Kirk Ellis (Tamara), Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren James Fletcher (Kari), Troutville, VA, Sharon Render (Steve), Round Lake Beach, IL, Jeremy Fletcher, Urbandale, IA, Traci Childers, New Caney, TX, and David Rockenbach II, Leitchfield, KY; great-grandchildren Jordan Torres, New Caney, TX, Mya Bishop Troutville, VA, Hannah Lanier, Spring, TX, Bailey Childers, New Caney, TX, Mackenzie Childers, New Caney, TX, Ella Fletcher Troutville, VA, David Rockenbach III, Leitchfield, KY, Trinity Rockenbach, Leitchfield, KY, Cleo Joyce Childers, New Caney, TX; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Memorial services will be held at Darst Funeral Home, 796 Russell Palmer Rd., Kingwood, on Saturday, January 27th at 1 p.m. with a celebration of life to follow.
