Obituary

Nancy Davis Pinkerton, age 74, passed on while at home with her husband on Tuesday, February 15, 2022.

Nancy, "Mrs. P", was born on April 26, 1947 in Henderson, TX as the only child to Vaughn and Gladys Davis. After attending Henderson High School, she moved to Nacogdoches, TX and studied at Stephen F. Austin University where she earned a B.S. degree in Home Economics. She furthered her education and subsequently completed her master's degree in Education at Sam Houston State University.

While attending SFA, Nancy (amongst friends and sisters in the Delta Zeta Sorority then known as "Nancy Nice") met her loving husband James "Jim" Pinkerton. The two were wed on April 4, 1969. Shortly thereafter they each began their married lives and careers in Humble, TX eventually settling in Kingwood a few years later. Nancy began her teaching career in Aldine ISD teaching elementary school students at three schools spanning between 1969-1980. She then joined Humble ISD at Bear Branch Elementary in August of 1980, eventually becoming Assistant Principal at Lakeland Elementary in 1984, and then Principal at Greentree Elementary and Willow Creek Elementary in Kingwood through 2020. Her teaching career spanned 53 years where she taught, loved, mentored, and molded the lives of thousands of students, colleagues, and families in our community.

Nancy's impact didn't stop at education but continued through service in the Kingwood United Methodist Church where she served for many years on numerous committees, groups, and activities. Her most favorite times with the church were serving our youth at U.M. Army as a leader and cook at their weeklong events. Many will miss her banana pudding and macaroni and cheese.

Lastly, she had a serious love for basketball, and more importantly watching her students through the years at all levels of basketball from elementary through college. She found no greater joy than rounding up the grandkids or "the Greentree girls" and heading off to watch University of Houston basketball games and seeing her sports hero Fabian White Jr. (Greentree Alum) dazzle her and the Cougar fans.

Left here to honor and remember Nancy along with Jim Pinkerton are their two children Scott Pinkerton, and Julie Pinkerton Brewer. Scott and Julie's spouses, Camille Landry, and Lance Brewer. Four grandchildren, Emma and Elise Pinkerton, and Davis and Cole Brewer. Two nieces, Kelly Higgins, and Maggie Thomas.

Services honoring Nancy and her life will be held on Saturday, February 26 at Kingwood United Methodist Church beginning at 11:00 AM, followed immediately with an open reception until 2:00 PM.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers being sent, those wishing to express their love, gratitude, and remembrance of her to please donate to the Kingwood United Methodist Church at www.kingwoodumc.org/give
