Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and abiding faith that we announce the passing of Mrs. Norma "Jo" Holland Stewart, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, who entered into eternal rest on September 25, 2025, at the age of 93.

Born in 1931, Jo Stewart lived a life marked by grace, devotion, and unwavering love for her family and faith. A native of Sulphur, OK., Jo was the cherished daughter of Marion William Holland and Florida Autry Holland and sister to seven older siblings.

Jo was a woman of quiet strength and deep compassion. Her life was a testament to the virtues of humility, kindness, and service. She found joy in the simple things—her family's laughter, the warmth of a shared meal, and the beauty of a well-tended home. Her hands were always busy, whether preparing meals, sewing, or offering comfort to those in need.

A devout Catholic, Jo lived her faith daily through prayer, generosity, and a steadfast commitment to her loved ones. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, where she found spiritual nourishment and community. Her devotion to Our Blessed Mother was evident in her gentle spirit and the peace she carried even in times of trial.

Jo was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James "Jim" O. Stewart, Jr., sons James O. (Jamie) Stewart, III and Joey Shawn Stewart, and is survived by her children Janet S. Featherston and husband Robert; Julie S. Melton and husband Richard; grandchildren Shawn J. Stewart and wife Victoria, Taylor B. Melton and wife Kendyll, Kaitlyn H. Melton, and Wyatt S. Stewart and wife Alicia; great-granddaughter Cameron E. Stewart, great-grandsons Everett M. Melton and Hayes D. Melton as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members, especially Patricia Featherston Kirchenbauer, the Oklahoma angel.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church at 6646 Addicks Satsuma Drive, Houston, TX 77084. Burial will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, located at 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079. Following the services, the family warmly welcomes guests to join them for lunch at the home of Janet and Robert Featherston, where memories will be shared and Jo's life lovingly honored.

May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
