Obituary

Olivia "Libby" Jean Bellinger peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on February 1, 1951, in New Orleans, LA to Oliver and Ellen Barbin Pitfield, she spent her early years in Baton Rouge, LA before moving to Houston, TX during high school. Libby dedicated much of her career to serving others with kindness and care in her role at FedEx for over 30 years, where she formed lasting friendships and made a positive impact on all she met.

She was deeply devoted to her family and friends, a constant source of love and support to those fortunate enough to know her. Her gentle heart extended to all creatures, whether her cherished pets or the wildlife she admired. With a passion for growing beautiful and unique plants, she found joy in sharing their beauty with others. Her creativity shone brightly through her many crafts and hobbies, and her kitchen was a place of warmth, where she blessed loved ones with her delicious baking and cooking. Even in the face of her brain cancer diagnosis, she showed unwavering courage, strength, and an inspiring spirit of independence that will forever be remembered.

She is survived by her loving children: Roy Langford and wife Ashlee of North Bend, WA; Kari Hale and husband Richard of Galveston, TX; Clint Langford of Houston, TX; and Elizabeth Bellinger and wife Danni of Aurora, CO. She was a proud grandmother to Kathryn Macon and eagerly anticipated the arrival of her grandson, Callum Jude Bellinger. Her memory will also be cherished by her siblings: John McCrory and wife Virginia, Jeff McCrory and wife Kathy, Joe McCrory, Janis Wilson and husband Jim, and Jason McCrory, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She leaves behind her beloved pets - her Scottish Terriers, Piper and Doogan and her resilient, three-legged rescue cat, Zoe.

She was preceded in death by her dear grandmother Edna G. Barbin, father Oliver Pitfield, mother Ellen B. Conger, stepfather James P. McCrory, stepbrother James H. McCrory, sister Donna Mawson, nephews Rich Mawson and John Prentiss McCrory II, and niece Jonell Barbier.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the dear friends who brought so much joy and love into her life. Her cherished friend of 54 years, Geralyn Benner, was a constant source of comfort and companionship. Deep appreciation is also extended to her longtime friend and FedEx colleague, Theresa McAnally, and to two of her closest friends, Jean Croix and Pat Hardcastle, whose kindness and loyalty meant so much to her. Also, her Kroger Family, who held a special place in her heart as well, along with other countless loving friends who brought much joy to her life. The family offers their deepest thanks to her devoted caregiver, Peggy Tagle, and to the compassionate staff of Traditions Hospice for their care and support in her final days.

Since Libby had a deep love for flowers, floral tributes are warmly welcomed. For those who wish to honor her in another way, donations may be made to the Westie & Scottie Rescue of Houston at wsrh.com, a cause close to her heart
