Omar Wayne Campbell, 93, of Kingwood, Texas, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 20 at Landon Ridge Assisted Living Center, where he had resided for several years.
Wayne was born in Inkster, Michigan to Henry and Virginia Campbell. He married Regina (Jean) Bauer in 1951. She passed away July 10, 2014, in Kingwood, Texas.
Wayne and Jean resided in Taylor, Michigan, where he owned and operated Reinagle Heating and Cooling until his retirement. After retiring, they relocated to Mirror Lake, near Jackson, Michigan, where they enjoyed many years of lakeside living and rides on the lake in their pontoon. Wayne and Jean relocated to Kingwood, Texas in 2012 to be closer to family.
Wayne had a strong faith in Christ and served many years as a deacon at Taylor Center Church of Christ in Taylor, Michigan, and at Horton Road Church of Christ in Jackson, Michigan. His belief in Christ was central to the way he lived each day. He found strength in his relationship with the Lord and took comfort in the values of kindness, humility, and perseverance.
After retirement, Wayne and Jean enjoyed traveling, including trips to Europe, Australia, Florida, Tennessee, and Alaska, as well as visits with family in Texas. Wayne also enjoyed doing construction projects around the home, visits with his brother and sister-in-law and with his many nephews and nieces. In his final years at Landon Ridge, he enjoyed the company of those around him.
Wayne is survived by daughters Shirley (Robert) Kovacs and Susan (Michael) Schuler, both of Kingwood, Texas, as well as many nephews and nieces.
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; his brother, Maurice; sister-in-law, Elsie; sister Betty Davis; two nieces, JoAnn Wenzel and Debbie Lamarne; nephew Dale Davis, and parents Henry and Virginia Campbell.
Graveside services will take place at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery in Flat Rock, Michigan, on September 2 at 10:00 a.m. A memorial service will be held at Lake Houston Church of Christ in Humble, Texas, on September 12 at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in the form of saltine crackers to Impact Church of Christ in Houston, Texas.
