Obituary

Oral "Bud" Abbott passed away October 26, 2023 in Kingwood, Texas. He and his twin brother Oren were born on March 24, 1940 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Ira and Nellie Caudill Abbott. Through a chance encounter with a stranger, Bud was offered his first position with an insurance company shortly after his completion of his Army service. His long career had begun, culminating in management and ownership roles until 2010.

He was the proud owner of many motorcycles ranging from trail bikes to large touring cycles. When he wasn't riding his toys, he was hunting a variety of wild birds and animals as he had done since his youth. Along the way he purchased numerous antique trucks and Mustangs in response to the wish lists our children had created.

In 1975 Bud met Kay through the introduction by a mutual friend of theirs. Two years later they married and had just celebrated their 46th anniversary together. In retirement he enjoyed hours of bird watching in our backyard and long conversations with his cigar smoking friends and neighbors.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 46 years Charlotte "Kay" Abbott, sisters Bettye, Billye, Bobbye and Dorothy; son Andrew and wife Debbie, son Chris and wife Bonnie, daughter Amy and husband Doug; grandchildren Brandon, Jordan, Emily, Olivia, Madelleine and Megan; first great grandchild Jensen and our adopted families Josh and Kathryn Grisham, sons Landon and Luke, Nina Laakkonen, son Ukko and daughter Iita and Janne.
