Daniel Frank Pearce was born to Hallie Richard Pearce and Jessie Naomi Huffman Pearce on December 22, 1948, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Dan was one year old when the family moved to Denton, Texas. He attended Newton Razor Elementary, Denton Junior High, and graduated from Denton High School in 1967. Dan attended Rice University in Houston, Texas, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in behavioral science. He then met and married Genie Pearce (ne Dowdy), to whom he was lovingly married for almost 47 years. Dan is survived by his wife Genie, daughter Stephanie, son-in-law Chamberlain, and grandson Liam Sturgin, his daughter Emily, mother Jessie, sisters Nana, Polly, Ginger (husband John), Sue, brother Richard (wife Arlene), four nephews, two nieces, two great-nieces, and two great-nephews.

In high school, Dan played football and marched in the band. Amazingly, he played a half of football, performed at halftime in the band, then returned back out on the field for the second half! Dan was also voted "Mr. Denton High" his senior year, served as class president, and was well-respected by his peers. At Rice University, Dan was a Baker College Fellow, for which he served one year as Chief Justice and one year as Treasurer. During his time as Treasurer, he implemented innovative ways to raise money for the dorm. All was well until the Baker College Dean explained to Dan that beer was not allowed to be stocked in soda vending machines! In 1983, Dan and Genie moved to Kingwood, Texas, where they raised their daughters and became active members of Kingwood United Methodist Church. Dan served and led many ministries, such as Kairos Prison Ministry, Oaks of Righteousness, "Old Dads" Bible study, and Bible Study Fellowship. Further, Dan was passionate about teaching, a career he began late in life but many said he was born to do. Dan made learning fun for his students, and he loved being the Science Olympiad coach for his middle school. He felt it was his job to "inspire the students" on the team, not tell them what to do. Lastly, Dan was a passionate naturalist, with a special interest in geology, as shown by his EXTENSIVE collection of rocks! He loved exploring the geology of national and state parks, and was able to visit several parks with his family, including: Rocky Mountain, Yellowstone, Big Bend, and Acadia National Parks, plus Palo Duro Canyon and Pedernales Falls Texas State Parks.

Dan walked into the loving arms of Jesus Christ, his Savior, on October 13, 2020.

His memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at Kingwood United Methodist Church, 1799 Woodland Hills Drive, Kingwood, TX 77339.
