Peggy was born October 12, 1938 in Old Glory, Texas. She was the second of three girls born to parents, Marvin and Lucille Francis. She had an older sister, Joyce, and a younger twin sister, Patty.

She attended Cohoma High School, Howard County Jr. College, Abilene Christian Univ., the Univ. of Texas at Austin (Bachelor's degree in Home Economics), and Sam Houston St. Univ. ( Master's degree in Counseling)

After graduation, she became a High School Home Economics teacher, and a Middle School & High School counselor. She retired in 2010 after over 25 years in education. After retirement, she was involved in political campaigns and was a Practioner at the Creative Life Spiritual Center in Spring, Texas.

She married Raymond Engelhardt in Big Spring Texas on August 18th, 1962. After marriage, she lived in Austin, Corpus Christi, Snyder, Plainview, and Houston (Kingwood).

Over the years, she was active in several churches. She studied continuously to grow spiritually.

She loved to read and study, spend time with family, and she loved politics. She was active in Republican politics and was a founder and the first President of the Lake Houston Republican Women. She was campaign manager for Congressman Jack Fields.

Important events in her life were marriage, graduation from Univ. of Texas, 4 children, 5 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. Peggy was happy, loving, kind, caring, intelligent, direct, forgiving, strong willed, fun loving, and an animal lover. She loved country music and southern gospel hymns. Her favorite songs were "The Eyes of Texas" and "Elvira."

Her special friends were her "Mo Ranch Family" and her Creative Life group.

She was preceded in death by Marvin Francis (Father), Lucille Francis (Mother), Todd Engelhardt (Son), and Patty Bell (Sister).

She is survived by Raymond Engelhardt (Husband), Chad Engelhardt (Son) and wife Stacy, Kent Engelhardt (Son) and wife Mandee, Mitzi Engelhardt (Daughter), Joyce Spears (Sister), 5 Engelhardt grandchildren - Jeremy (JT), Blaze, Gunnar, Ty, Emilee, and 1 great grandchild Blue Bear Engelhardt. Service Information A Celebration of Life will be held for Mrs. Peggy Engelhardt on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Darst Funeral Home with a catered reception to follow.
